I recently got a call about a bathroom lighting issue that left people fumbling around in the dark. At first glance, you might blame mischievous gnomes for dimming the lights—but even though gnomes can be tricky, I’m pretty sure they weren’t the culprits this time. The real issue was with the fixed LED sconces. When they stayed on too long, heat would build up inside the unit, triggering a built-in safety regulator that dims the light to protect the electronics. Unfortunately, turning the switch off and back on didn’t reset the brightness.
To solve the problem, I swapped out the fixed LED units for classic incandescent-style mounts. These let the customer use standard LED bulbs that don’t have the same dimming issue. Now the bathroom stays bright, safe, and (for now) gnome-free.
